The COUNCIL VALLEY MUSEUM is one of the best small historical museums in the West! It is located one block south of downtown Council, just across the corner from the Festival site.
PAYETTE NATIONAL FOREST-- Council Valley is bordered on three sides by miles of National Forest land with some great FISHING and camping. There are millions of HUCKLEBERRY bushes, and there are usually some good patches left in August.
HELLS CANYON, the deepest gorge in North America, is only about an hour's drive west. Ask directions to Sheep Rock where you can get one of the awesome views of this gorge.
The SALMON RIVER is the longest stretch of wild river in the US. Float trips lasting up to a week, traversing the largest wilderness area in the continental US are available. The town of Riggins (1 hr. north on Highway 95) sits on the banks of the Salmon River and features salmon and steelhead fishing.
PAYETTE LAKE & MCCALL (45 minutes northwest of Council) -- Beautiful Payette Lake is popular for fishing, water skiing, sailing and all types of water sports. The town of McCall features year 'round resort accommodations. Summer: kayaking, mountain biking, boating, horseback rides, guided hunting trips. Winter: downhill and cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, annual Ice Carnival with ice sculptures.
The SEVEN DEVILS MOUNTAINS overlook Hells Canyon. The edge of this primitive area is about two beautiful hours northwest of Council where you will find remnants of the historic Seven Devils Mining District. (It's a rock hound's dream!) Beyond that is some of the best high-mountain hiking, camping and fishing anywhere.

CAMPGROUNDS:
There are areas in town, where tents can be pitched or RVs can park (no hookups) at no charge.
Primitive camping
spots (no water taps, toilets,
benches, electricity or hot tubs) can be found around every corner of the
area's hundreds of miles of National Forest roads.
More civilized campgrounds (water, outhouse type toilets, often
picnic tables--cost is usually $8.00 per night):

Vendors (craftspeople, food vendors, etc.) are welcome to set up at the performance area.
Vendor Fees:
Food / Drink vendors = $50 for the weekend or $25 for one day. Non-food = $30 for the weekend or $15 for one day
Vendors need to supply their own tables, shade awnings, etc. If you need electricity, please make this known in advance.

No dogs will be allowed on the Festival site.
"The Dog Park" at the south end of Council if offering free dog boarding from 9a.m. to 6p.m. during the festival.
